The Duluth Huskies defeated the Mankato MoonDogs in 10 innings Monday, losing their second in a row 3-2.<\/p>\n

Duluth struck early by plating a run in the bottom of the first, but starter Josh Ramirez (Washburn) was superb otherwise. Ramirez allowed the lone run in the first, allowing six hits, one walk, and striking out seven. Ramirez did not factor into the decision.<\/p>\n

The offense damage was done entirely in the third inning for the MoonDogs. Josh Elvir (Houston) and Blaze Glenn (Youngstown State) strung together consecutive RBI hits to give the Dogs a 2-1 lead.<\/p>\n

The MoonDogs would not allow another run until the eighth, when Brandon Pfaadt (Bellarmine) allowed the tying run to reach, knotting the score at 2-2. After pitching a scoreless ninth, the MoonDogs headed to extras for the third time this season.<\/p>\n

Mankato went down in order in the top of the tenth, allowing the Huskies to strike in the home half of the inning.<\/p>\n

With Jacob Nagel (Bellarmine) coming in for relief, the Huskies were able to plate the winning run without recording an out.
\nThe MoonDogs were only able to muster seven hits on the game, allowing twelve to Duluth, the second straight game they allowed double-digit hits to their opposition.<\/p>\n

The MoonDogs are back at the Frank Tuesday, facing off with the Waterloo Bucks for the first time in 2018. The two teams will play twice in Mankato followed by twice in Waterloo over the next four days.<\/p>\n

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 Central Time.<\/p>\n
