Mankato, Minn. \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>The Mankato MoonDogs are pleased to welcome four new guys to their roster in 2019. This summer Brayden Weyer, Taylor Jackson, Kona Quiggle and Mikey Perez will be headed to Mankato to play in the orange and black.<\/p>\n

Brayden Weyer \u2013 Seattle University<\/strong><\/p>\n

Weyer, from Erie, Colo., is a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Seattle University. He pitched 14.1 innings in his second campaign as a Redhawk. Recorded 11 strikeouts over the course of the season in his 18 appearances.<\/p>\n

Taylor Jackson \u2013 Kirkwood Community College<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jackson, a freshman outfielder and native of Chicago, Ill., will be representing Kirkwood Community College on the MoonDogs this summer. Jackson, a native of Chicago, Ill., appeared in 60 games where he hit 10 homeruns and drove in 59 runs and notched 77 runs of his own. A threat on the bases, Jackson also stole 30 bases in his first season for the Eagles.<\/p>\n

Kona Quiggle \u2013 Grand Canyon University<\/strong><\/p>\n

Quiggle, a native of Phoenix, Ariz., is an outfielder out of Grand Canyon University where he played as a junior in 2019. This season, Quiggle recorded 52 runs, 57 RBI and slugged 10 homeruns, while notching a .330 batting average. After his standout season, he hopes he can continue his offensive ways with the MoonDogs this summer.<\/p>\n

Mikey Perez \u2013 UCLA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perez, a freshman from UCLA, appeared in 11 games as a Bruin in his first college season. In his 10 plate appearances, he hit .200 with a double, an RBI and a run. Perez notched a .385 on base percentage with help from a pair of walks and hits.<\/p>\n

The MoonDogs begin the season with a home game against the Willmar Stingers on Tuesday, May 28, with first pitch scheduled at 7:05 pm.<\/p>\n

The 25-year old summer collegiate league is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 200 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (BOS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (MIA).
