It gave Willmar a 5-4 lead that they closed the door on in the ninth.<\/p>\n<p>The Stingers took an early, 2-0, lead in the first inning. An RBI single from\u00a0<b>Brennan McKenzie\u00a0<\/b>and double by\u00a0<b>Cesar Lopez\u00a0<\/b>scored the runs.<\/p>\n<p>Making his MoonDogs debut,\u00a0<b>Dew Stahl<\/b>\u00a0made his presence felt in his first plate appearance with a single to score\u00a0<b>Jake Thompson\u00a0<\/b>in the second inning. However, it wasn\u2019t long before the Stingers countered.\u00a0\u00a0In the bottom half, a sacrifice fly restored their two-run advantage, 3-1.<\/p>\n<p><b>Griffin Cheney<\/b>\u00a0padded the Stingers lead with another run scored on a\u00a0<b>Tyler Wilber<\/b>\u00a0sacrifice fly in the fourth that made it 4-1 Stingers.<\/p>\n<p>Then, the Dogs scored three consecutive runs to tie the game, 4-4.\u00a0<b>Danny Borgstrom<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>Michael Curialle\u00a0<\/b>had RBIs in the fifth to bring the Dogs within one. In the sixth,\u00a0<b>Dylan Phillips<\/b>\u00a0tied the game with a double down the right field line to score his Kansas State teammate,\u00a0<b>Zach Kokoska<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Lee\u2019s pinch-hit heroics put the Stingers up one in the eighth and\u00a0<b>Jonathan Brand\u00a0<\/b>earned his first save of the summer for Willmar in the ninth. The Stingers edged the MoonDogs in hits, 12-10, and were slightly better defensively, with one error to Mankato\u2019s two.<\/p>\n<p>Stinger reliever,\u00a0<b>Landon Green<\/b>, got his first win of the season. He pitched a perfect eighth for the Stingers to get them hitting where they took the lead in the bottom half and ultimately won it in the ninth.<\/p>\n<p><b>Jared Milch<\/b>\u00a0started his fourth game on the hill for the MoonDogs Thursday. The southpaw from Stony Brook University went six complete innings. Milch gave up nine hits and four runs while walking one and striking out three. In relief,\u00a0<b>Andre Granillo<\/b>\u00a0made his third appearance of the summer and pitched the next two frames.
