MANKATO, Minn. \u2013<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The Mankato MoonDogs\u2019 (43-22) five-game win streak ended following a matchup with the Duluth Huskies (28-37) that resulted in a 12-5 defeat, Wednesday night at ISG Field.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Huskies got this going quickly on Wednesday, cracking the score column on the game\u2019s first pitch with a solo home run to left off the bat of\u00a0Michael Brooks<\/strong>\u00a0(Central Florida) to give the Huskies an early 1-0 lead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After the Huskies added three more runs to take a four-run lead in the fourth inning,\u00a0Carson Yates<\/strong>\u00a0(UCLA) followed it up in the bottom half of the inning with his second home run of the summer, a three-run blast to left that shrunk the deficit to 4-3 to conclude the fourth inning.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From that point on, the visiting Huskies took over by scoring eight consecutive runs with six in the sixth and another pair in the eighth. The MoonDogs mounted a two-run rally in the eighth, but ultimately finished the contest with their five-game win streak coming to an end in a 12-5 loss to the Huskies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Duluth outhit the MoonDogs 11-4 in the contest despite outnumbering Mankato in defensive mishaps by a margin of 2-1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Earning the win was a relief pitcher for Duluth in\u00a0Jake Schelonka<\/strong>\u00a0(St. Scholastica) after he threw up three scoreless frames with one hit allowed. In his MoonDogs debut,\u00a0Andrew Gustafson<\/strong>\u00a0(Gustavus Adolphus College) suffered the loss and fell to 0-1 in his Northwoods League career.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MoonDogs and Huskies resume their series on Wednesday with the season finale between the two in-state foes set for 6:35 p.m. at ISG Field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
