MANKATO, Minn. \u2013<\/b>\u00a0The Mankato MoonDogs lost to the St. Cloud Rox, 12-5, at Joe Faber Field, Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With this loss, the MoonDogs drop to 14-14 on the season while the Rox improved to 19-5 on the season and four games from clinching the first-half title in the Great Plains West.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mankato opened up with a run in the first inning.\u00a0Boston Merila<\/strong>\u00a0(Minnesota) walked and was later brought in off a\u00a0Sean Ross’<\/strong>\u00a0(Indiana State) groundout.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The MoonDogs had five guys with one RBI, including Merila and Ross.\u00a0Brendan Hord<\/strong>\u00a0(Evansville),\u00a0Cade Verdusco<\/strong>\u00a0(Grand Canyon) and\u00a0Garrett Williams<\/strong>\u00a0(Abilene Christan) were the other three.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Rox were all over the MoonDogs early and took the lead in the bottom of the second by a 5-3 margin before never looking back.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

They were led by\u00a0Josh Cowden\u00a0<\/strong>(Brigham Young)\u00a0and\u00a0Brady Prewitt<\/strong>\u00a0(Colorado State). Each of them had two RBI. Every batter in the Rox lineup had a hit but one, they finished the game with 11 hits.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Weston Lombard<\/strong>\u00a0(San Francisco) started for the MoonDogs and pitched an inning and a third, giving up three runs before acquiring his fourth loss of the season. The Dogs were relieved by\u00a0Thomas Bruss<\/strong>\u00a0(Augustana),\u00a0Timmy Reeve<\/strong>\u00a0(San Joaquin Delta), and\u00a0Taisei Yahiro<\/strong>\u00a0(Grand Canyon.)<\/p>\n

The MoonDogs look to bounce back on Monday night as they take on the Waterloo Bucks in another Great Plains battle. The MoonDogs will have\u00a0Miles Garret<\/strong>\u00a0(Vanderbilt) on the mound making his debut at Riverfront Stadium.<\/p>\n
