MANKATO, Minn. \u2013<\/b> The Mankato MoonDogs roughed up the Duluth Huskies for a 6-1 victory in a Northwoods League baseball game, Saturday night at ISG Field.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With the win, the MoonDogs improved to 24-21 overall in 2022 with a 5-6 second-half record, while the Huskies, now 22-22, fell to 3-8 in the second-half standings after taking the loss.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The scoring started in the bottom of the fourth frame when\u00a0Angelo Peraza<\/b>\u00a0(San Diego) clubbed a two-run triple over the head of the Huskies\u2019 centerfielder and into the alley in right-center. The three-run fourth was capped by an RBI single through the right side of the infield by\u00a0Mikey Gottschalk<\/b>\u00a0(Minnesota State \u2013 Mankato). After four innings of play at ISG Field, the MoonDogs led the Huskies, 3-0.<\/p>\n

John Newman Jr.<\/b>\u00a0(Santa Barbara) tacked one more run onto the lead with a solo home run over the fence in left during the fifth inning. Newman\u2019s second blast of the summer put the MoonDogs up 4-0.<\/p>\n

Duluth saw its first run of the evening cross the plate in the top half of the seventh when\u00a0Kristian Campbell<\/b>\u00a0(Georgia Tech) advanced home in the midst of a throw down to second on a stolen base. After\u00a0Simon Scherry<\/b>\u00a0(Evansville) roped an RBI single down the leftfield line and\u00a0Charles McAdoo<\/b>\u00a0(San Jose State) hit a sacrifice fly to left for a pair of runs, the MoonDogs found themselves grasping a 6-1 lead over the Huskies.<\/p>\n

Mankato held Duluth in check for the remaining two innings to pick up their second straight win by a final score of 6-1.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Corey Sanchez<\/b>\u00a0(San Jose State) was the starting arm for Mankato on Saturday night. Sanchez picked up the win to improve to 3-1 after dealing seven innings of two-hit baseball with one run against. He walked one and struck out seven along the way. In relief,\u00a0Alfredo Frey<\/b>\u00a0(La Verne) and\u00a0Tyson Neighbors<\/b>\u00a0(Kansas State) dished out scoreless and hitless eighth and ninth innings, respectively.<\/p>\n
