It really was a Saturday of Northwoods League baseball like no other at Corbett Field. The Minot Hot Tots and Rochester Honkers played an epic first game of the series, one that went down to the wire. At the end, Minot went into celebration after a Robbie Demetree walk-off base hit to put the Tots ahead for good, 8-7.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With two outs already recorded in the first inning, Hot Tot starter Jackson Duncan looked like he was cruising. That was until Rochester\u2019s home run leader, Maddox Haley, came up and rocked a solo home run to right field, opening the scoring.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Hot Tots matched power with power once they got the chance. Blake Cavill went opposite field for his fifth home run of the year. His shot was worth three runs, giving Minot their first lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Back-to-back scoreless innings were tossed by Duncan and his opposing starter Brady Lejeune-Deacutis before the scoreboard was changed again. Rochester found three runs in the fourth inning to reclaim the lead. Josh Outlaw brought in two of them on a single to center field.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Down by a run, the Tots wouldn\u2019t wait long before sending a response. Matt Toomey got one past the infield and scored two runs on the play.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After Rochester tied the game a 5-5 in the fifth inning, the score held all the way into the eighth inning. The Honkers manufactured two runs to take a 7-5 lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It would come down to the ninth inning for the Hot Tots to make one last push. With two runners on base and one, it was Toomey again doing the work, slicing an RBI double into right field. The tying run scored on a wild pitch and then Robbie Demetree was up to bat with the winning run on third base.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Demetree hit a comebacker to Rochester pitcher Nick Bauer, the ball glanced off Bauer\u2019s glove into no-man\u2019s land. Toomey scored and Demetree made it safely, ending the game in a walk-off win for the Tots.<\/span><\/p>\n

Minot celebrated their first walk-off style <\/span>Sky Dancer Casino Big Win<\/b> since May of 2024. Matt Toomey\u2019s three hits and three RBI earned him <\/span>SportClips MVP<\/b> honors.
