Every year approxi<\/span><\/span>mately 30\u00a0young men move to Rochester for the summer\u00a0<\/span>to play for the Honkers. From late-May through mid-August, these young, aspiring ballplayers continue to hone their baseball skills playing<\/span><\/span> 72 games in 76 days. Players come from all over the United States to participate in the Northwoods League and be part of the Rochester Honkers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the 29-year history of the Rochester Honkers and the Northwoods League, the Host Family Program has been a vital part of the team’s success both on and off the field. Having the players become part of a local family helps them have a sense of normalcy in a strange, new city. Many of the players become more than a guest, they actually become part of the family.<\/span><\/p>\n
