Rochester to host first ever MLB Jr. Home Run Derby at Mayo Field<\/em><\/p>\n

(Rochester, Minn.)<\/strong> \u2013 The Rochester Honkers and SCHEELS are happy to announce that for the first time, Rochester, Minnesota will play host to a free Major League Baseball Jr. Home Run Derby Local Competition on May 19, 2018 at Mayo Field.<\/p>\n

Winners from the local competitions will advance to the regional competition, and then have a chance to qualify for the National Finals, in Washington, D.C., held at Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals, over the 2018 MLB All-Star Week.<\/p>\n

Boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14 are encouraged to participate in this FREE event.\u00a0 The event will be broken up into two age groups: 14 & Under and 12 & Under.<\/p>\n

Winners from the local competitions from both age groups will advance to their Regional Competition and compete for a chance to advance to the National Finals.\u00a0 Rochester, Minn. is in the Chicago Region, and winners will move on to Midlothian, Ill. for their chance to go to the National Finals in Washington, D.C. during the MLB All-Star Week.<\/p>\n

SCHEELS will be the proud title sponsor of the event, along with support from Olmsted Medical Center and the Rochester Area Jaycees.<\/p>\n
