Honkers add junior college product.<\/em><\/p>\n

(Rochester, Minn.) \u2013 <\/strong>The Rochester Honkers have announced the signing of Chandler Cannon, a right-handed pitcher from Walters State Community College, to a temporary contract for 2018.<\/p>\n

Cannon is a 6-foot 185-pound sophomore from Oregon, Ohio. He began his collegiate career in 2017 at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas.\u00a0 His season was cut short due to an arm injury.\u00a0 In his brief time, Cannon made 5 appearances, recording a 2-1 record and earning one save.\u00a0 He collected 10 strikeouts in 10 1\/3 innings of work. Cannon is recovering successful Tommy John surgery and is now 100% healthy.\u00a0 In 2017, he signed with the Bismarck Larks of the NWL before his injury.<\/p>\n

Cannon is a 2016 graduate of Clay High School in Toledo, Ohio.\u00a0 He finished his high school pitching career 15-2 with a 0.22 ERA.\u00a0 He earned a first-team All-Ohio selection and named Regional Pitcher of the Year.\u00a0 Cannon will join Walters State Community College in the fall of 2018.\u00a0\u00a0 Cannon signed with Walters State and will report \u00a0in the fall.<\/p>\n

The Rochester Honkers 25th season begins on Tuesday, May 29th when the team hosts the Eau Claire Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. 5-Game Packs and Kids Club Memberships are available now!\u00a0 Season Tickets, \u00bd Season Plans, Suites and Patios are also available. Entering its 25th anniversary season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 20 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, 190 former Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (BOS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (TOR). \u00a0All league games are viewable live via the <\/em>Northwoods League portal<\/em><\/a>.
