Rochester, MN \u2014 The five Honkers\u2019 All-Stars (Evan Berkey, Tristan Peterson, Ryan Wrobleski, Ryan Middendorf, and Keon Taylor) have excelled throughout the first half of the season, but it\u2019s a whole different ballgame when you\u2019re playing a team of All-Stars.<\/p>\n
Berkey and Peterson were in the Great Plains \u00a0 team\u2019s starting lineup.<\/p>\n
Berkey drew a walk, but was caught stealing when he attempted to swipe second base. He also nearly completed a great defensive play in the infield, but the umpire called the runner safe.<\/p>\n
Peterson went 1-for-2 with a single. Unfortunately, he didn\u2019t come around to score.<\/p>\n
Wrobleski went 0-2 at the plate.<\/p>\n
Middendorf came in to pitch in the middle innings and he pitched pretty well. However, he threw one bad pitch to Madison Mallard Justice Bigbie who hit his second homer of the All-Star Game to give the Great Lakes team a 3-1 lead over the Honkers\u2019 Great Plains team.<\/p>\n
Taylor came in late in the game to keep the Great Plains team within striking range. He did just that by retiring both of the batters he faced.<\/p>\n
The Honkers\u2019 Great Plains team ended up losing 5-2 to the Great Lakes team.<\/p>\n
Peterson and Wrobleski competed in the Home Run Derby and each hit a homer, but Thunder Bay Border Cat Jake Engel won with five homers.<\/p>\n
The Honkers return to action on Thursday, July 18, when they travel to Willmar, MN. They will play two games against the Stingers on the road, before hosting them on Saturday, July 20, at 6:05 p.m.<\/p>\n
