ROCHESTER, MINN.<\/b> \u2014 The Rochester Honkers are thrilled to announce that, with the loosening of COVID-19-related restrictions by Minnesota governor Tim Walz, Mayo Field will operate at full capacity for the 2021 summer season.<\/span><\/p>\n

The team\u2019s announcement comes after Walz revealed the statewide initiatives on Thursday that include any remaining limits on outdoor and indoor activities to end on Friday, May 28.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cWe\u2019re beyond excited to welcome everyone back to Mayo Field this summer,\u201d Honkers general manager Jeremy Aagard said. \u201cThe ability for us to bring as many Honkers fans into the ballpark that we can accommodate after a difficult year in 2020 is great news. We can\u2019t wait to provide a new sense of family fun to Rochester in a safe, comfortable environment this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Honkers will take the proper measures to ensure all fans are comfortable at the ballpark, including the continuation of using hand sanitizer stations and adhering to the latest mask guidelines at Mayo Field. The team will also implement new concessions practices that limit lines and close contact between fans on the concourse.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Honkers enter their 28th season of play on May 31st on the road against the Eau Claire Express at 7:05 PM. The Rochester Honkers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Having completed its 27th season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league of its kind in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans and provides a friendly ballpark experience. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 250 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). 2019 Rookie of the Year and Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and MLB Gold Glove finalist and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TOR) each participated in the NWL before they were MLB stars.
