The Rochester Honkers are teaming up with The Hormel Institute in Austin, MN for \u201cA League Of Their Own Night\u201d.\u00a0 The Honkers and Hormel Institute are celebrating the 1992 film\u2019s 30th anniversary, in addition to the impact it had on women in baseball.\u00a0 The Honkers will bring in special guests for the night, including Megan Cavanagh.\u00a0 Cavanagh played Marla Hooch in the Penny Marshall directed classic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Megan and the other guests (to be named at a later date) will participate in a pre-game Q&A and will be available before and during the game for autograph signings and photo ops.\u00a0 They will then participate in pre-game festivities and cheer on the Honkers take on the La Crosse Loggers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hormel Institute\u2019s Marketing and Communications Manager, Raquel Hellman said, “The Hormel Institute is thrilled to be partnering with the Rochester Honkers to celebrate women in baseball and the iconic film \u2018A League of Their Own\u2019. We look forward to working with Megan Cavanagh, who shares our dedication to cancer research.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Honkers Director of Sales, Clint Narramore added, \u201cWe are excited to be able to bring in Megan to meet our fans.\u00a0 This is another exciting piece of our renewed atmosphere and fan experience and we look forward to hosting these types of events annually.\u00a0 The Honkers are thankful for partners like The Hormel Institute.\u00a0 They have been amazing to work with on this project.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rochester Honkers begin their 29th season of play on May 30th when they host the <\/span><\/i>Willmar Stingers at Mayo Field. The Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league of its kind in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans and provides a friendly ballpark experience. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 250 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). 2019 Rookie of the Year and Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and MLB Gold Glove finalist and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TOR) each participated in the NWL before they were MLB stars.
