{"id":16402,"date":"2024-06-18T22:22:49","date_gmt":"2024-06-19T04:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rochester-honkers\/?p=16402"},"modified":"2024-06-18T22:22:49","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T04:22:49","slug":"honkers-ride-big-third-inning-to-13-3-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rochester-honkers\/2024\/06\/18\/honkers-ride-big-third-inning-to-13-3-win\/","title":{"rendered":"Honkers Ride Big Third Inning to 13-3 Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Honkers\u2019 offense exploded on Tuesday night. 13 runs, 12 hits and three home runs propelled them to a 13-3 victory in their first game against Duluth of 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brendan O&#8217;Sullivan started the scoring with an RBI single in the second. However, the Honkers couldn\u2019t capitalize further and left runners on second and third. O&#8217;Sullivan ended up 2\/4 with two RBIs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rochester put up a crooked number in the third where they brought ten hitters to the plate. Dean Carpentier homered to lead off, which was followed by a slew of walks and singles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eventually, Carpentier came to the plate again in the inning and doubled home two runs. Luca Dipalo homered in the sixth and Reiss Calvin went opposite field in the eighth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The new-look Honkers also got a phenomenal start out of a familiar face. Sam George went five shutout innings where he allowed five hits, only one walk and five strikeouts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Honkers and Huskies meet again tomorrow, first pitch is scheduled for 12:05.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Rochester Honkers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2023 World Series Champion, 2021 and 2023 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and two-time All-MLB first team shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
