LACROSSE, Wis. \u2013 Four Honkers\u2019 pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout as they dominated the Loggers\u2019 lineup en route to a 6-0 victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ryan Higgins got things rolling for the Honkers as he put together three scoreless innings to go along with five punch outs. In the second inning, the Honkers put up a crooked number as three runs came across the plate, capped off by an RBI single from Allan Camarillo to take a 3-0 lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beau Alazaus pitched a crucial bridge inning for the Honkers before RCTC\u2019s Harmon Zylstra provided four huge scoreless innings ultimately earning him the win.<\/span><\/p>\n

A pair of RBI\u2019s from Angel Cortez to go along with crucial RBI\u2019s from Kennedy Hara and Ibrahim Marrero respectively, helped the Honkers to a resounding first win of the season.\u00a0<\/span>The Honkers will now head north of the border for a four game set against the 1-1 Thunder Bay Border Cats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rochester Honkers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, over 350 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (TEX), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (STL) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (ATL). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2023 World Series Champion, 2021 and 2023 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and two-time All-MLB first team shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
