\n\t(Rochester, Minn.)- <\/strong> The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of 5-foot-9, 190- pound catcher Chayce Ka’aua (Ka-ah-oo-ah) and 6-foot-2, 210- pound right handed pitcher Joshua Pigg from the University of Hawai’i.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlready this season, Ka’aua is hitting .444 in nine at bats, with three RBIs, helping his team to a 1-3 record against the Oregon Ducks during the 2015 opening weekend.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe redshirted freshman from Hilo, Hawai’i did not play during the 2014 season due to injury.  He is a 2013 graduate of Hilo High School in his hometown of Hilo, Hawai’i where he batted over .400 and was named to the first team all-league each year.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tJoining Ka’aua for the 2015 season is teammate Josh Pigg.  Currently, Pigg has thrown 1.1 innings with a strikeout for the 2015 season.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tPigg, a junior from Sacramento, Calif., joins the team after playing two years at Cosumnes River Community College in Sacramento, Calif.  He had a successful sophomore season, after battling injury during his freshman season, going 2-2 with 10 strikeouts and batting .267 with five runs and six RBIs.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the summer of 2014, Pigg was a member of the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League, pitching for the Alameda Merchants.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.  Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available. \n\tThe are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 22nd <\/sup>season of summer collegiate baseball in 2015, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 120 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (BOS) and Ben Zobrist (OAK).
