(Rochester, Minn.)-<\/b> \u00a0The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing 6-foot, 190- pound sophomore right-handed pitcher Alex Evans from Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kan.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Currently Evans has a perfect 0.00 ERA in his four appearances on the season.\u00a0 In 10.0 innings pitched, he has earned a team high three saves, with 11 strikeouts and scattered six hits. <\/span><\/p>\n

In his 2014 freshman season, Evans made 22 appearances for the Cougars.\u00a0 He ended the season with a 3-2 record with a 2.54 ERA.\u00a0 Evans struck out 65, walked 11 in 46.0 innings, and collected seven of the team\u2019s eight saves.\u00a0 He allowed only 13 earned runs.\u00a0\u00a0 His performance landed him a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All Conference Western Division Team honorable mention.<\/span><\/p>\n

Evans graduated from Mulvane High School where his four year baseball career included 70 games played, an overall batting average of .372, 83 hits, and 53 RBIs. He finished his high school pitching career with an overall 2.02 ERA and 12 wins. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.\u00a0 Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available. The Rochester Honkers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 22nd <\/sup>season of summer collegiate baseball in 2015, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 120 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (BOS) and Ben Zobrist (OAK).
