\n(Rochester, Minn.)-<\/b> \u00a0The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of right-handed pitcher Matt Walker from University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound freshman from Fresno, Calif. is one of 17 pitchers on the stacked UCLA squad that is currently 11-1 and ranked #6 nationally.\u00a0 11 pitchers have only seen action this year for the Bruins, four of which have gotten all 12 starts combined.<\/span><\/p>\n

Walker graduated from Clovis North High School in Fresno, Calif., where he finished his senior season 7-3 with a 1.82 ERA while hitting .341.\u00a0 He was a 2014 All-Tri River Athletic Conference first team selection and 2014 Fresno Bee first team All-Valley Selection. \u00a0As a junior, Walker led his team to the California Interscholastic Federation Central Section Division I Championship.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the summer of 2014, Walker played for the Walla Walla Sweets, of the West Coast Summer Collegiate League.\u00a0 He finished the summer 1-1, with seven strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UCLA Bruins host #1 Vanderbilt Friday and then welcome\u00a0 #7 TCU on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.\u00a0 Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available. The Rochester Honkers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 22nd <\/sup>season of summer collegiate baseball in 2015, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 120 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (BOS) and Ben Zobrist (OAK).
