{"id":6436,"date":"2015-03-24T14:24:39","date_gmt":"2015-03-24T14:24:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rochester-honkers\/?p=6436"},"modified":"2015-03-24T14:25:21","modified_gmt":"2015-03-24T14:25:21","slug":"honkers-boost-temporary-roster-with-signing-of-defiance-college-shortstop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rochester-honkers\/2015\/03\/24\/honkers-boost-temporary-roster-with-signing-of-defiance-college-shortstop\/","title":{"rendered":"Honkers Boost Temporary Roster with Signing of Defiance College Shortstop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><span style=\"color: #000000\">(Rochester, Minn.)<\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u2014<\/b> The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing infielder Ryan Kohlhofer from Defiance College in Ohio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Kohlhofer is a 5-foot-6, 160-pound junior infielder from Walbridge, Ohio.\u00a0 He is currently hitting .250 with two doubles, 5 RBI\u2019s and a perfect four-four in stolen bases.\u00a0 Kohlhofer has started every game at shortstop and is the team\u2019s leadoff batter. He is one of five players to have started all 11 games so far.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">As a sophomore, Kohlhofer started 38 games, hitting .272 with nine doubles and 20 RBIs.\u00a0 He was eight of 11 in stolen bases while posting a .909 fielding percentage.\u00a0 His freshman season saw him start 32 of the 34 games he played in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">A graduate of Lake High School in Walbridge, Ohio, Kohlhofer earned three varsity letters in baseball, was a two-time All-Wood County selection and a two-time All-Suburban League performer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Temporary players are guaranteed 10 days with the team with a maximum stay of the end of the first half, depending on roster size.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.\u00a0 Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available. Playing its 22<sup>nd <\/sup>season of summer collegiate baseball in 2015, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 120 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (BOS) and Ben Zobrist (OAK).
