{"id":7363,"date":"2016-01-04T09:00:24","date_gmt":"2016-01-04T09:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rochester-honkers\/?p=7363"},"modified":"2016-01-05T15:06:56","modified_gmt":"2016-01-05T15:06:56","slug":"honkers-add-holtman-as-teams-assistant-general-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rochester-honkers\/2016\/01\/04\/honkers-add-holtman-as-teams-assistant-general-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Honkers Add Holtman as Team&#8217;s Assistant General Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<strong><u>Joe Holtman Joins Honkers Front Office As Assistant General Manager<\/u><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>(Rochester, Minn.)<\/strong><strong>&mdash;<\/strong> The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today that Joe Holtman, a 2015 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been hired as the team&rsquo;s new Assistant General Manager.&nbsp; He will serve under Honkers owners Kim Archer and Dan Litzinger.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&quot;I&#039;m very excited and thankful for the opportunity to join the Rochester Honkers,&quot; said Holtman. &quot;I&#039;m looking forward to growing in this position and learning from Kim and Dan.&nbsp; I couldn&#039;t be happier with where I ended up.&quot;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHoltman graduated from UW-Madison in May of 2015 with a degree in Journalism and Strategic Communication.&nbsp; He served as the Chair of the All-Campus Leadership Conference Committee, the largest student-run event on campus, from 2014-2015.&nbsp; He was ultimately responsible for the marketing plan, fundraising, event programming and event operations.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&ldquo;Kim and I are excited to have Joe join our team and family,&rdquo; said General Manager, Dan Litzinger.&nbsp; &ldquo;He&rsquo;s a very organized and driven young professional who is ready and excited to run with us.&nbsp; Joe&rsquo;s got that unique quality of when you meet him, you already like him.&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHoltman got his desire for baseball after spending the summer of 2014 as a Marketing and Operations Intern for the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods League.&nbsp; He assisted with the planning of the 2014 Northwoods League All-Star game and All-Star Banquet in which Lakeshore hosted.&nbsp; He was also heavily involved with the day to day game operations of the team including concessions, staff management and game productions.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&quot;My summer interning with the Chinooks solidified my dream of working in sports and sparked my admiration for the Northwoods League. I also feel that my background as a Journalism Major, along with my experience, has helped prepare me to be a significant asset to the Honkers&#039; front office. I can&#039;t wait to get started&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHoltman served, as was very active, in many events and committees at UW-Madison, and had a strong presence in the Student Leadership Program and Public Relations Student Society of America.&nbsp; He will be heavily involved with the Honkers in sales and marketing, community involvement and awareness, and game day operations and management during the summer.\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n\t###\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. The 22-year old summer collegiate league is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 140 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Lucas Duda (NYM) and Ben Zobrist (CHC).
