\n\t(Rochester, Minn.) –<\/strong> The Rochester Honkers fell 13-8 to the Duluth Huskies Saturday night at Mayo Field, despite out hitting the Huskies 17-8.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Honkers scored the first eight runs of the game, kicking it off with a solo home run from Jackson Thoreson (St. Mary’s) in the second inning. The Honkers put up four more runs the third, and it started with a RBI single from Casey Worden (UC Riverside), and then Thoreson connected on a RBI single of his own. Jacob Thomas (UC Davis) and Kyle Kasser (Oregon) each collected a RBI in the inning, to make the score 5-0 after three.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Honkers added another run in the fourth on an Alex Fitchett (Hawaii) home run, then two more in the fifth when Thomas hit a two-run home run, to make the score 8-0.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Huskies got their first run of the ballgame, when David Kyriacou (Kansas) scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. The Huskies added another two in the seventh, when they got two, solo home runs. One was off the bat of Liam Sabino (Vanderbilt), and the other was off Mitch Reeves (Florida Southern), to make the score 8-3.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Huskies then scored 10 runs in the eighth inning, to take a 13-8 lead, and victory. Sabino hit a two-run home run to give the Huskies the 13-8 lead.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tErik Cha (Cal State Fullerton) got the start for the Honkers; he pitched 6.2 innings, allowed three runs on three hits, walked two and struck out one. Hunter Van Horn (Clemson) pitched in relief; he threw 0.2 innings, allowed three runs on one hits and walked five. Stevie Ledesma (0-1) (SBCC) got the loss for the Honkers; he went 0.2 innings, allowed five runs, none of which were earned, on three hits, walked one and struck out one.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tCorey Gaconi (Southeastern Louisiana) got the start for the Huskies; he pitched four innings, allowed six runs on 11 hits, walked one and struck out one. Drew Molin (1-0) (St. Thomas) got the win, he threw three innings, allowed two runs on three hits, walked one and struck out two.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThoreson went 3 for 5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Honkers. Thomas was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored to help keep the offense moving.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSabino led the Huskies at the plate; he went 2 for 4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Amaral went 3 for 5 with two RBI and two runs scored to help push the Huskies.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Honkers fall to 7-25, while the Huskies advance to 17-16.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Honkers will take on the same Duluth Huskies tomorrow afternoon, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. It is a Kids Club Day! Also, kids eat for free on the Sports Deck, with the purchase of an adult ticket, and run the bases after the game! Monday, the Honkers are in Waterloo to finish off a suspended game on June 14. The game is in the top of the ninth, and the Honkers trail the Bucks 3-2 with nobody out. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. A full nine-inning game will be played after the suspended game is finished. The Honkers are back at home Tuesday to play the Waterloo Bucks on TV Tuesday presented by Sam’s Club! One lucky fan will have a chance to win a 40” TV from Sam’s Club! First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:00!\n<\/p>\n
