\n\t(Rochester Minn.) <\/strong>– The Rochester Honkers announced today that right-handed pitcher Josh Nashed from San Jose State and Katir Prieto from Cal. State Northridge will be added to the 2017 roster.\n<\/p>\n \n\tNashed<\/strong> is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior from San Jose, Calif. As a junior at Leland High School, Josh hit .358 with five doubles, two home runs, and 16 RBIs. He also posted a 2-1 record and three saves with a 1.18 ERA in 23.2 innings. During his senior season, he batted .471 with 14 doubles, two home runs, 25 runs scored, and 28 RBIs. He also held an amazing 0.44 ERA with three saves and 19 strikeouts in 16.0 innings. He won the BVAL Mount-Hamilton Division MVP, and was named to the Cal-Hi Sports First Team All-State, MaxPreps First Team All-State, and was the San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year.\n<\/p>\n \n\tNashed now plays college baseball with for his hometown San Jose State Spartans. He held a 7.02 ERA in 53.2 innings, with 39 strikeouts and 21 walks during his freshman season. Nashed saw a starting role during his sophomore season, starting 14 games as a pitcher, 27 games in the field, and 14 games as a designated hitter. He led the team with a 4.79 ERA and 88.1 innings pitched with two complete games. As a batter, he hit .246 with two triples (T-2nd<\/sup> on team) and was third on the team with 18 walks.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThis season, Josh is 0-0 with a 1.59 ERA in three games. He has allowed three earned runs on 17 hits. He leads the team with 16 strikeouts, while only walking two batters. He is also batting .120 in 25 at-bats. He has scored once and drove one run in. The 7-6 Spartans head to Albuquerque, N.M. to face New Mexico in a three-game series before a single game against Cal. State Fullerton on Tuesday.\n<\/p>\n \n\tPrieto<\/strong> is 5-foot-8, 165-pound freshman from Fresno, Calif. As a junior in high school, he struck out 104 batters in 74 innings with a 1.58 ERA. He was named to the Fresno Bee Fab 50 and Northern Yosemite League and All-Valley First-teams. He also threw a no-hitter, striking out 21 batters in the game, which broke the school record previously held by MLB Hall of Famer Tom Seaver, who played in the MLB for 20 season with four teams. Prieto’s senior season was shortened by an injury, but he finished with a 3-0 record and 30 strikeouts in 12 innings, being once again named to the Northern Yosemite League First-team.\n<\/p>\n \n\tPrieto has yet to appear in a game this season. The 6-6 Matadors will host Purdue this weekend for a four-game series starting on Friday. \n<\/p>\n
