\n\tKENOSHA, Wis. – <\/strong>The Rockford Rivets got out to an early lead, but eventually dropped their third straight game, in a 5-2 loss to the Kenosha Kingfish at Simmons Field Thursday night.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Rivets (13-10) opened the scoring in the second inning when JC DeMuri (Quincy), who doubled to lead off the inning, scored on a wild pitch. DeMuri doubled again in the fourth inning and came around to score on Hunter Feduccia’s (LSU-Eunice) RBI double. Rockford hit five doubles as a team and held a 2-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tRivets starter Evan Snyder (Parkland) cruised through the first four innings, allowing just one hit, but ran into trouble in the fifth. Snyder allowed the first five batters he faced in the fifth to reach base, and was chased from the game after getting just one out in the inning. The Kingfish scored all five of their runs in the fifth inning, all off Snyder.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Kingfish (15-9) held onto that 5-2 lead the rest of the way to win the game and sweep the series with the Rivets. Michael Costanzo (Austin Peay) started for Kenosha and got the win, allowing just two runs and striking out seven batters over six strong innings. The Kingfish bullpen combined to throw three shutout innings in relief of Costanzo.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Rivets open up a four-game homestand Friday at 6:35 p.m. against the Green Bay Bullfrogs.<\/em>\n<\/p>\n
