Fireworks may have been last night at Rivets Stadium but it looked like a firework show in the hits department for the Rivets vs the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Sunday.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Rivets recorded a season-high 13 hits from nine different players in their 13-6 victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Cam Baumann started the game for the Rivets. He struggled with multiple walks but managed to escape the inning only surrounding one run.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In the bottom of the first, Dom Hughes scores off a sac fly from Jeff Heinrich. Later in the inning, Jake Vander Wal scores off an error by the 3rd baseman giving the Rivets a 2-1 lead.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Rivets explode with six runs in the 4th inning thanks to seven hits and multiple walks. The key to the Rivets victory today was in part to their plate discipline as they drew 10 walks. Designated hitter, Ryan Hampe, excelled not only swinging the bat today but also by taking pitches. He credits his plate discipline to his main job behind the plate as a catcher.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cIt allows me to know the zone, know the umpires, especially mid-season when you start knowing what umpires have what kind of zone. You can start adjusting from there so it becomes pretty easy,\u201d Hampe said.<\/span><\/div>\n

Things got interesting for the Rivets in the bottom of the 9th when the Woodchucks scored 4 runs but pitcher, Brett Taucher, came in to save the day.<\/span><\/div>\n
