{"id":742,"date":"2016-06-23T02:38:16","date_gmt":"2016-06-23T02:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rockford-rivets\/?p=742"},"modified":"2016-06-23T02:38:16","modified_gmt":"2016-06-23T02:38:16","slug":"rivets-suspended-for-first-time-in-franchise-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/rockford-rivets\/2016\/06\/23\/rivets-suspended-for-first-time-in-franchise-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Rivets Suspended for First Time in Franchise History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<strong>LOVES PARK, Ill<\/strong> &ndash; The Rockford Rivets and Kenosha Kingfish had their game suspended after a two-and-a-half-hour delay in the first inning on Wednesday night at Rivets Stadium.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe game will be completed as part of a doubleheader in Kenosha on Saturday, June 2 at 4:05 p.m. &nbsp;Rockford will still be the home team in game one of the twin bill.&nbsp; When the teams resume, the game will be scoreless in the bottom of the first inning with the Rivets having a runner on first and nobody out.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAll tickets can be exchanged for admission to any future Rivets home game in 2016.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Rivets will open a two game series against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at home Thursday night at 6:35 p.m.&nbsp; Broadcasts and live streams can be found at NorthwoodsLeague.com.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>The Rockford Rivets are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 23rd season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 150 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Lucas Duda (NYM) and Ben Zobrist (CHC).
