\n\t\tMEQUON, Wis<\/strong> – Parkland’s Cory Wright (4-1) threw seven innings of five hit, one run baseball and the Rivets held off a ninth inning rally to defeat the Lakeshore Chinooks 2-1 on Wednesday night at Kapco Park.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t \n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe Rivets opened the scoring in the second inning as Hunter Steinmetz (Missouri State) hit a two-out single.  Gavin Johnson (Rice) then smoked a double to left center, and a bad relay throw allowed Steinmetz to score for a 1-0 Rivets lead.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t \n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tRockford would add to the lead in the third.  After two were out, Hunter Hargrove (Texas Tech) launched his fourth home run of the spring, a line drive to left field off of Lakeshore starter Tyler Jandron (1-1) to make it 2-0.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t \n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tLakeshore would get a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1, but Jacob Ruder stranded the tying run at third in the ninth for his second save.\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t \n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe Rivets will open a two game home-and-home series against the Madison Mallards in Madison on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.  Broadcasts and live streams can be found at NorthwoodsLeague.com. \n\t<\/p>\n
