St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud Rox did a little bit of everything on Wednesday night against the Waterloo Bucks, taking their second straight game to kick off the current homestand in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud’s offense and pitching were the stories of the night, as it took down Waterloo 9-0 in a blowout victory at the Rock Pile. The Rox offense went off for nine runs on 10 hits, while their pitching staff combined to throw a shutout on the mound.

St. Cloud wasted no time getting on the board in the game, recording one run in the bottom of the first thanks to sacrifice fly from Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) that scored Connor Aube (Texas at Arlington) from third base.

In the second inning, the Rox exploded for six runs to jump out to a big lead over the Bucks. The inning was highlighted by a pair of two RBI doubles from Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas at Pine Bluff) and Aube. St. Cloud went on to score one run in the bottom of the fourth and one more in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Aube led the way for St. Cloud, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Jack Barrie (Northwestern Ohio) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored, while Sanchez, Weisenberg and Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) all added one hit and two RBI.

On the mound, Evan Johnson (Creighton) put on a show for the Rox, pitching the first six shutout innings. He gave up just three hits, two walks and struck out six. Spencer Mraz (Miami-Ohio) came into the game in relief of Johnson and finished out the shutout, tossing three shutout innings of his own, giving up just one hit.

St. Cloud (4-4 second half, 20-24 overall) will return to action at 7:05 p.m. Thursday night as it welcomes the Duluth Huskies to the Rock Pile. The game will feature the highly entertaining group The Dueling Duo-Dueling Pianos during the game presented by PreferredOne.
