LAST TIME OUT<\/strong><\/p>\n

The St. Cloud Rox (44-20) secured a 3-2 victory over the Bismarck Larks (18-49) on Monday, while also claiming home field advantage in the first series of the playoffs.<\/p>\n

The first round of the playoffs will be a best-of-three Sub-Divisional Series in which the First-Half Great Plains West Champion Rox will play game one on the road on Sunday, August 10th. Games two and three (if needed) of the series will be played at Joe Faber Field on Monday, August 11th, and Tuesday, August 12th (if needed). Playoff tickets are on sale online or over the phone at (320)240-9798<\/p>\n

The Rox set the tone early by taking the 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after a pitch hit\u00a0Jackson Cooke<\/a>\u00a0(University of Pittsburgh).<\/p>\n

St. Cloud added on another run from an RBI single by\u00a0Eric Bello<\/a>\u00a0(St. Cloud State University) in the top of the fourth to extend the advantage to 2-0.<\/p>\n

JP Robertson<\/a>\u00a0(University of Mississippi) received the start on the mound for the Rox and would pitch 4.2 shutout innings with six strikeouts.<\/p>\n

With the game tied at two,\u00a0Wilmis Castro<\/a>\u00a0(St. Cloud State University) blasted a home run into left field to give the Rox a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning.<\/p>\n

Pitcher\u00a0Brandon Jaenke<\/a>\u00a0(University of Minnesota) closed out the game on the mound for the Rox and earned his fifteenth save of the season to finish a 3-2 Rox victory.<\/p>\n

PROBABLE STARTERS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)<\/strong><\/p>\n

STC-\u00a0<\/strong>St. Cloud will look to Hunter Day to set the Rox up for success on the mound in game two. Day has pitched his way to an ERA of 5.00 across 54 innings (10 starts) with 39 strikeouts, 14 walks, and has allowed 65 hits. He will look to rebound from his last start against Willmar where he went 1.2 innings three runs and six hits.<\/p>\n

BIS- <\/strong>Jackson Fronek will start the final game for the Larks against St. Cloud this season. He has pitched in five games with 11.1 innings pitched for an ERA of 1.59. Fronek has struck out 10, walked six, and allowed six hits across his outings so far. His last appearance spanned 2.1 innings of shutout ball with one strikeout and one hit allowed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
