Rochester, MN \u2013 Ben Carew (Kent State) and Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) each drove in three RBI as St. Cloud (31-33) shutout Rochester to win 9-0. St. Cloud swept the Honkers, winning both games via shutout at Mayo Field. It was the eighth and final time the two teams would face off this season.<\/span><\/p>\n

St. Cloud jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first four innings. Ryan Davis (Georgetown) led off the first inning with a solo home run to right field. Weisenberg scored on a wild pitch in the second inning while Jack Barrie (Reinhardt) and Carew recorded an RBI in the third and fourth inning respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carew was back at it in the sixth inning, hitting a two-out double that scored two runs. He finished the game with three RBI, a career high for him with the Rox.<\/span><\/p>\n

Weisenberg belted his fifth home run of the season in the seventh inning, drilling a two-run shot over the left field wall. St. Cloud claimed their last run in the ninth inning, when Weisenberg again delivered on an RBI single.<\/span><\/p>\n

Evan Johnson (Creighton) claimed his fourth win in a row, throwing six innings and striking out six batters. Erik Martinez (California) tossed the seventh and eighth innings, striking out two batters. Nate Shoemaker (Creighton) made his season debut in the ninth inning.<\/span><\/p>\n

St. Cloud returns to the Rock Pile on Saturday to open a two-game home series against Waterloo. Saturday\u2019s game is Hometown Heroes Night presented by Capital One. Five local heroes will be recognized. It\u2019s also Championship Chisel Bobblehead giveaway to the first 500 fans. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05.<\/span><\/p>\n
