{"id":15649,"date":"2023-05-31T22:20:51","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T02:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/?p=15649"},"modified":"2023-05-31T22:20:51","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T02:20:51","slug":"cats-blank-honkers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/2023\/05\/31\/cats-blank-honkers\/","title":{"rendered":"CATS BLANK HONKERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof x_elementToProof\">The Border Cats pitching staff continues to dominate in the first week of the Northwoods League\u00a0season as Thunder Bay blanked the Rochester Honkers 1-0 on Wednesday night at Mayo Field.\u00a0 Cats hurlers have now pitched 26 shutout innings out of 27 to open the campaign as Thunder Bay&#8217;s improved its record to 2-1.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof x_elementToProof\">The Border Cats scored the only run of the game in the 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0inning after the first three batters reached base and Peter Fusek (Western Illinois University) delivered a sacrifice fly scoring lead-off man Lucas Terilli (East Central College).\u00a0 Righthander Petyon Fosher (University of Nevada) picked up the victory as he scattered five hits over 6 1\/3 innings with two strikeouts.\u00a0 Reliever Kannon Carr (Jefferson College) notched a hard earned save as he struck out six in the final 2 2\/3 innings, including escaping a two-out bases loaded jam in the 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0inning and a two on, two-out situation in the bottom of the 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0inning.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof x_elementToProof\">The Cats and Honkers wrap up their two-game set on Thursday at 7:35pm ET.\u00a0 Righthander Matthew Tippie (Texas State University) is the scheduled to take the mound for Thunder Bay.\u00a0 The Border Cats play their home opener Tuesday, June 6, at 6:35pm at Port Arthur Stadium against the Duluth Huskies.\u00a0 The stadium ticket office is open weekdays from 11:00am to 3:00pm.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof\">\n<p class=\"x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_ContentPasted0\">###<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_x_ContentPasted0\"><i class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players.
