{"id":15660,"date":"2023-06-01T22:24:23","date_gmt":"2023-06-02T02:24:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/?p=15660"},"modified":"2023-06-01T22:26:32","modified_gmt":"2023-06-02T02:26:32","slug":"honkers-fly-past-cats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/2023\/06\/01\/honkers-fly-past-cats\/","title":{"rendered":"HONKERS FLY PAST CATS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The Border Cats bats were silenced on Thursday in Rochester as they were blanked 7-0 by the Honkers at Mayo Field.\u00a0 The Honkers put the game away by scoring three times in the seventh inning and the Cats managed only four hits on the night as their record fell to 2 and 2.\u00a0 Matt Tippie (Texas State University) got the start on the mound for Thunder Bay and pitched four innings, allowing four hits and three runs (two earned) with six strikeouts.\u00a0 Griffin Catto (Jefferson College) made his season debut in relief and the Whitby, ON, native tossed two hitless innings, striking out two, although he did allow one run.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\n<p>The Cats head south on Friday to Waterloo as they continue their six-game road trip with the first of two games against the Bucks.\u00a0 Game time is 7:35pm ET with lefthander Peyton Leon (Grayson College) the probable starter for Thunder Bay.\u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"x_x_x_elementToProof x_x_elementToProof\"><span class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">\u00a0The Border Cats play their home opener Tuesday, June 6, at 6:35pm at Port Arthur Stadium against the Duluth Huskies.\u00a0 The stadium ticket office is open weekdays from 11:00am to 3:00pm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"x_x_x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_x_x_elementToProof\">\n<p class=\"x_x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_ContentPasted0\">###<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_x_x_ContentPasted0\"><i class=\"x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_ContentPasted0\">The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players.
