{"id":15691,"date":"2023-06-10T08:36:28","date_gmt":"2023-06-10T12:36:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/?p=15691"},"modified":"2023-06-10T08:36:28","modified_gmt":"2023-06-10T12:36:28","slug":"huskies-outslug-cats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/2023\/06\/10\/huskies-outslug-cats\/","title":{"rendered":"HUSKIES OUTSLUG CATS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The Thunder Bay Border Cats ended up with a split of their four-game series against Duluth after an ugly 13-11 loss to the Huskies on Friday before 1,289 fans at Port Arthur Stadium.\u00a0 The teams combined for 24 runs, 24 hits and 11 errors.\u00a0 For the second straight night, the Huskies raced out to a big lead with a 5-0 advantage after 2 1\/2 innings, but the Border Cats jumped ahead 8-5 thanks to a pair of runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth.\u00a0 Thunder Bay held a 9-7 lead before the Huskies erupted for five runs in the eighth with a big blow a three-run homer by Michael Hallquist (Minnesota-Crookston) that Duluth the lead for good.\u00a0 Trailing 13-9 in the ninth, the Cats brought the winning run to the plate, but could only push across two runs in their final at-bat as their record slipped to 4-6.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Ryan Beaird (University of Texas-San Antonio) took the loss in relief while Cole Ketzner (South Alabama) had two hits and drove in four runs for Thunder Bay.\u00a0 The Cats hit the road for a pair of games this weekend in St. Cloud starting Saturday at 7:05pm ET.\u00a0 Lefthander Evans Hendricks (Texas A&amp;M-Corpus Christi) will make his debut on the mound for the Cats, who return home to play the Rox in a two-game set starting Monday at 6:35pm.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><i>(photo courtesy of Gary Moskalyk)<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><i><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><i><b><span class=\"x_x_elementToProof\"><span class=\"x_x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_ContentPasted0 x_ContentPasted0\">###<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<div class=\"x_x_elementToProof\">\n<p class=\"x_x_x_x_x_x_x_x_ContentPasted0\"><i class=\"x_x_x_x_x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_x_ContentPasted0 x_x_ContentPasted0 x_ContentPasted0\">The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players.
