The righthander from Oakville, Ont., pitched six shutout innings, allowing just three hits, and striking out eight, as the Cats blanked the Huskies 3-0 in the nightcap of the twinbill.\u00a0 Unga did not allow a hit until there were two outs in the fifth inning as he improved his record to a perfect 3-0.\u00a0 He has not allowed an earned run this year in 17 innings while racking up 25 strikeouts. Alex Uher (Midland CC) pitched a scoreless seventh inning with one strikeout for his first save.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Thunder Bay did all of its scoring in the third inning. Ottawa native Colin Fisher (University of Houston) connected for his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, and Manny Alberto (Western Kentucky University) added an RBI double.\u00a0 Alberto had a solid day at the plate in the doubleheader, going 4-for-9, with four runs batted in.\u00a0 The shortstop from Aurora, Ont., is now hitting .333 in 15 games with 15 RBI.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">In the opener, the Cats tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the ninth on an Alberto single, but the Huskies pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning to win 5-4.\u00a0 The 12-game season series for the Superior Cup is tied at a game apiece with the Border Cats the two-time defending champions.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The Cats return to Port Arthur Stadium Wednesday to open a six-game homestand against the Waterloo Bucks at 6:35pm.\u00a0 Righthander Matteo Pare (Troy University) is the scheduled starter for Thunder Bay.\u00a0 The game is presented by Brickhost and it&#8217;s also &#8220;Weenie Wednesday&#8221; with 2-for-1 hot dogs<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Thunder Bay Border Cats used an outstanding pitching performance from Anthony Unga (Creighton University) to earn a split of  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":17037,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[57,41,52],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-17034","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-permanentslider","category-team-news","category-update-ticker"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.5 (Yoast SEO v26.5) -
