{"id":17044,"date":"2026-06-17T22:43:31","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T02:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/?p=17044"},"modified":"2026-06-17T22:46:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T02:46:32","slug":"cats-down-bucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/2026\/06\/17\/cats-down-bucks\/","title":{"rendered":"CATS DOWN BUCKS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Thunder Bay Border Cats continued their winning ways at Port Arthur Stadium on Wednesday night as they opened a six-game homestand with an 8-4 victory over the Waterloo Bucks.\u00a0 The Cats second straight win improved their overall record to 11-12 and their home mark to 9-2.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It was a comeback win for Thunder Bay as the Bucks and Cats traded two runs apiece in the first inning.\u00a0 Alex Kean (Morehead State University) tied the game with a two-run double and the Cats took the lead for good thanks a four-run fourth inning, with the key blow a two-run single by Lincoln Pack (Pensacola State CC).\u00a0 Stevie Waters (University of British Columbia) added a two-run single in the seventh inning, before the Bucks closed out the scoring by scoring a couple of runs in their final at-bat.\u00a0 Kean and Waters both had two hits on the night, while Pack led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>Vincent Segovia (University of Arkansas-Monticello) came on in relief and tossed five scoring innings, allowing five hits, and striking out seven, to pick up his first win of the season.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>The two teams play a split-doubleheader on Thursday with a pair of nine inning games.\u00a0 The opener starts at 11:05am as the Cats host their second &#8220;School Day&#8221; game for students.\u00a0 It&#8217;s open to all fans with seats available on the stadium&#8217;s three party decks.\u00a0 The second game of the twinbill is scheduled with 6:35pm and it&#8217;s &#8220;Bark In The Park Night&#8221; presented by Pet Valu.\u00a0 Dogs get in free and the first 100 thru the gates receive a free baggie of treats courtesy of Pet Valu.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Thunder Bay Border Cats continued their winning ways at Port Arthur Stadium on Wednesday night as they opened a  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":173,"featured_media":17045,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[57,41,52],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-17044","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-permanentslider","category-team-news","category-update-ticker"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.5 (Yoast SEO v26.5) -
