\n\tThe Rochester Honkers doubled up the Thunder Bay Border Cats 6-3 to win the mini three game series at Mayo Field. Thunder Bay outhit the Honker ball club 10-4 but still could not come up with the win.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tJeff Campbell's three run blast was part of a 4-run 1st inning for the Honkers. Alex Schultz singled home a pair of runs in the 7th to round out the offense for Rochester.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThunder Bay got two-hit nights from Jordan Serena (Columbia University), Christian Correa (Nicholls State), Nick Studer (Doane College), and Cory Kay (Missouri State). Correa singled to open the scoring in the top of the 1st. Tyler Rolland (Southern Illinois University) walked with the bases loaded to give the Cats a 2-0 lead after half an inning. The Border Cats left twelve runners stranded. Studer's solo home run in the 5th was his first long ball of the season and the only other run production the Cats could muster.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHonkers Starting Pitcher Brandon Stennis allowed three runs on eight hits in collecting the victory (4-2) in a five inning outing. He also walked three and struck out seven. Michael Freeman had a fantastic three innings out of the bullpen. He allowed one hit, issued one free pass and struck out three. Ryne Roper struck out the side in the 9th for his first save, allowing one hit.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMichael Daley (Kean University) had a quality start for the Border Cats. He allowed four runs (three earned) on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Ben Allison (Belhaven University) carried the mail for two innings allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and a strikeout.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThunder Bay visits Waterloo on Monday night to start a two game set at Riverfront Stadium in Iowa. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35pm EDT\/6:35 CST.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBORDER NEWS: The Border Cats have released IF Kyle Hann, RP Zach Morgenstern, SP Ryan Powers, and SP Zack Speer. They've also added Freshman P Paul Murphy from Milwaukee Area Tech College.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHann was in his second season as a Border Cat before he got injured in Early July. He was up to .250 with a home run and four RBI's.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMorgenstern joined the Cats after a stint with the Kenosha Kingfish. He had four relief appearances with 0-0 record and 5.40 ERA.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tPowers, an MLB draft pick, was 1-2 in six starts with 31 K's in 33.0 IP with an ERA of 4.36.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tUnlucky to win a start, Speer was a mainstay in the rotation. He was 0-3 with a 4.41 ERA with 17 K's in 36.2 IP. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
