{"id":17114,"date":"2026-06-28T21:00:42","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T01:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/?p=17114"},"modified":"2026-06-28T22:36:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T02:36:11","slug":"a-rare-home-loss-for-cats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/2026\/06\/28\/a-rare-home-loss-for-cats\/","title":{"rendered":"A RARE HOME LOSS FOR CATS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Thunder Bay Border Cats returned to Port Arthur Stadium Sunday, but the friendly confines weren&#8217;t enough, as they fell 5-1 to the Duluth Huskies.\u00a0 It was just the fifth loss in 17 home games for the Cats this season as their overall record slipped to 15-18 with one game remaining in the first half of the Northwoods League season.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Huskies belted three home runs in the victory as they took a 5-2 lead over the Border Cats in the 12-game season series for the Superior Cup.\u00a0 Ayden Hadley (Sacramento State University) drove in Thunder Bay&#8217;s lone run with an RBI double in the fourth inning that scored Alex Kean (Morehead State University) from first base.\u00a0 That cut the Huskies lead to 2-1, but Duluth added a single run in the sixth inning and a pair in the top of the eighth to round out the scoring.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Tyler Bribiescas (University of Arkansas-Monticello) took the loss to fall to 1-4.\u00a0 The lefthander pitched six innings, allowing four hits and three runs, with four strikeouts.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Cats continue their four-game homestand Monday with the final game of their two-game set against the Huskies at 6:35pm.\u00a0 It&#8217;s &#8220;Season Ticket Redemption Night&#8221; as fans can redeem their unused tickets for new seats.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Thunder Bay Border Cats returned to Port Arthur Stadium Sunday, but the friendly confines weren&#8217;t enough, as they fell  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":173,"featured_media":17116,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[57,41,52],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-17114","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-permanentslider","category-team-news","category-update-ticker"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.5 (Yoast SEO v26.5) -
