{"id":17185,"date":"2026-07-22T22:49:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T02:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/?p=17185"},"modified":"2026-07-23T12:51:55","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T16:51:55","slug":"cats-sweep-honkers-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/2026\/07\/22\/cats-sweep-honkers-2\/","title":{"rendered":"CATS SWEEP HONKERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Thunder Bay Border Cats slugged three home runs as they made it back-to-back road wins on Wednesday night with a 6-3 victory over the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Trailing 3-2, the Cats took the lead for good with a three-run seventh inning thanks to a solo homer off the bat of Justin Anctil (Texas State University), an RBI double by Nate Negre (University of Central Arkansas), with the third run scoring on an error.\u00a0 Jacob Steinberg (Belmont Abbey College) made his return to the Cats and homered in the top of the first inning, while Alex Kean (University of NC Ashville) also left the park with a solo shot leading off the eighth.\u00a0 Negre had two hits and drove in two runs on the night, Anctil collected two hits, while Jesus Vasquez (University of Hawaii) chipped in with a pair of hits, including a double, and two runs scored.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Four Thunder Bay pitchers combined on a four hitter with Tyler Bribiescas (University of Arkansas-Monticello) getting the win to improve his record to 3-4.
