{"id":17239,"date":"2026-08-02T21:23:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T01:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/?p=17239"},"modified":"2026-08-02T21:23:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T01:23:24","slug":"gluth-cuts-down-loggers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/thunder-bay-border-cats\/2026\/08\/02\/gluth-cuts-down-loggers\/","title":{"rendered":"GLUTH CUTS DOWN LOGGERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Veteran righthander Braden Gluth (North Dakota State University) got the Thunder Bay Border Cats in the win column Sunday evening to earn a split of their doubleheader with the La Crosse Loggers at Copeland Park.\u00a0 Gluth (2-1), fired five innings of one-run ball, allowing just three hits with two strikeouts as the Cats edged the Loggers 2-1.\u00a0 Chase Randall (University of Incarnate Word) came on to get the final six outs of the seven inning game as he shutout the Loggers the rest of the way, striking out three, for his third save.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Cats, who were the home team for the second game, scored both of their runs in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI groundout by Mark Ross (University of Central Arkansas) and a run scoring double by Ayden Hadley (Northwest Missouri State University).\u00a0 Stevie Waters (University of British Columbia) was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a run scored, and finished with eight hits in the four games played in La Crosse this weekend.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In the first game on Sunday, the Loggers scored five times in the first inning and cruised to a 13-1 win.\u00a0 The Border Cats, who played six doubleheaders in 11 days, finished up with a 5-7 record in those twin bills.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Cats return to Port Arthur Stadium Monday for their final four-game homestand of the season with the first of a two-game series against the Waterloo Bucks.
