\n\t\t\t\tThe Thunder Bay Border Cats are proud to announce the signing of outfielder <\/span>Jared James<\/b> from California's Long Beach State University.  The 6'1", 190 junior is the son of former major league outfielder <\/span>Dion James<\/b>, who played 11 years in the big leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees.  Jared was selected in the 30th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by Atlanta out of Sacramento Community College.  The native of Sacramento batted .351 as a sophomore in 2014 with three home runs, 10 doubles and five triples. <\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t \n\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\tThunder Bay manager Danny Benedetti<\/b> has also added seven pitchers to the Border Cats staff.  Signing with the Cats areKenny Glover Junior <\/b>(Savannah State University), Malik Jones <\/b>(Savannah State University), Greg Weissert<\/b> (Fordham University), Jeremy Charles<\/b> (University of Hartford), Nate Steger<\/b> (Winston Salem State University), Donnie Stellers<\/b> (Wake Forest University), and Julian Loret de Mola<\/b> (Florida-Nova Southeastern University).<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tThe Border Cats open the 2015 Northwoods League season on Tuesday, May 26th<\/span><\/span>, versus the Eau Claire Express at 7:05pm<\/span><\/span> at Tbaytel Park.  Single game tickets, s<\/span><\/font><\/span>eason tickets and flex-packs are now on sale at the stadium ticket office or by calling (807) 766-CATS.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Border Cats are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 22nd <\/sup>season of summer collegiate baseball in 2015, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 120 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer <\/b>(WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale<\/b> (CWS),Jordan Zimmermann<\/b> (WAS), Curtis Granderson <\/b>(NYM), Lucas Duda <\/b>(NYM) and Ben Zobrist<\/b> (OAK).
