The Waterloo Bucks broke open a 1-0 game with a five run 7th inning and went on to beat the Thunder Bay Border Cats 8-4 to earn a split of their two-game series at Port Arthur Stadium.\u00a0 The game was played before an enthusiastic Friday night crowd of 1,205.\u00a0 Patrick Ferguson (Kent State University) led the Bucks at the plate, going 2-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Morgan Hostetler (Corban University) started the 7th inning uprising with a lead off home run, his first of the season.\u00a0 Down 8-0, the Cats attempted a comeback scoring four times in the 8th inning with the big blow coming off the bat of Ryne Edmondson (Houston Baptist University), who delivered a bases loaded double.\u00a0 The three runs batted in upped the left fielder’s RBI total to a team leading 34.\u00a0 Anthony Galati (Radford University) had a 3-4 night for the Cats with a run scored.\u00a0 Luke Mattson (University of San Diego) picked up the win on the mound for Waterloo.\u00a0 The righthander improved to 2-1 by going 5 1\/3 shutout innings, allowing four hits while striking out five.\u00a0 Brendan Cindric (Pepperdine University) took the loss in relief for Thunder Bay as his record slipped to 0 and 2.\u00a0 Joe Moran (Anderson University) started for the Cats in his final outing of the season.\u00a0 The Northwoods League All-Star, who was on a pitch count, threw three perfect innings and struck out five to lower his ERA to 2.53.\u00a0 Moran’s next appearance will be for the Great Plains team at the NWL’s Major League Dreams Showcase this coming Tuesday in Madison, Wisconsin.\u00a0 With the Cats bullpen depleted by departures and injuries, shortstop Nathan Soriano (Houston Baptist University) took the mound and pitched a scoreless 9th inning.\u00a0 The Cats four-game homestand continues Saturday against the Duluth Huskies and it’s another Season Ticket Redemption Night with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 pm.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
