The Traverse City Pit Spitters will be offering clinics throughout the fall for 2019. The clinics will run from August 29th through October 10th, every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Former Traverse City Beach Bums Manager, Dan Rohn will be coaching the clinics, along with former Beach Bums Kendall Patrick and Kenny Knudsen. You can see their bios below.
Dan Rohn played in the MLB for three seasons. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the fourth round of the 1977 draft. Dan made his debut for the Cubs on September 2nd 1983, and after two seasons in Chicago was traded to the Cleveland Indians. Dan also spent 19 seasons as a coach in both the MLB and Minor League systems, before retiring from managing after the conclusion of the 2018 season.
Catcher Kendall Patrick draws from 8 years of post-high school baseball experience; including 2 years at The University of Michigan, as well as 4 seasons of professional experience with the Traverse City Beach Bums. Patrick’s collegiate career began after being recruited to NJCAA D2 Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois. Following his three-year stint at Black Hawk College, Kendall joined The University of Michigan for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. As a two-year starter he helped the Wolverines to a Big Ten Conference appearance in 2014 and a Big Ten Conference Tournament Championship in 2015. As a redshirt senior in 2015, he led the Wolverines and finished 7th in the Big Ten Conference in Homeruns (8). The same year he was named to the All-Louisville Regional team at Catcher. While at Michigan he received the U-M Academic Athletic Achievement Award in 2014 along with Academic All-Big Ten in 2015. Kendall went undrafted out of Michigan, but was signed in 2015 by the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League. Patrick played four seasons with the Bums before the team dissolved following the 2018 season. During his rookie year the Bums went on to win the Frontier League Championship. In his four seasons he became the only catcher in franchise history to catch four seasons racking up career leading numbers in games played, putouts, and fielding percentage.
Pitcher Kenneth Knudsen spent four years at Bryan College where he is the career ERA record holder with a 2.46 ERA. He was named the 2012 Appalachian Athletic Conference Freshman of the year and was selected to the 2014 AAC All-Tournament Team. He was also named the 2015 AAC Pitcher of the year. After college Kenneth went to the Alaska Baseball League and played one season for the Chugiak Chinooks. Kenneth then went to the Frontier League playing professionally for the Schaumburg Boomers for one season before signing with the Traverse City Beach Bums in 2017 for two seasons.

We ask that all participants arrive by 5:30PM for registration and have their cleats on and ready to go by 5:45PM. All clinics will start promptly at 6:00PM. There will be no metal cleats allowed as well as no outside food. Kids will also need to bring their own equipment.
