Traverse City, MI \u2013 The baseball season in Northern Michigan is fast approaching and the Traverse City Pit Spitters are already playing games, sort of. In this case, it\u2019s Hide & Seek!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The back-to-back Northwoods League champions, together with area schools and businesses, are holding a special Easter egg hunt\u2014called Hop N\u2019 Hunt\u2014with a unique \u201ccatch.\u201d Instead of eggs, the team is hiding specially colored baseballs at select businesses around Traverse City. The entire community is invited to find them.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The Hop N\u2019 Hunt will start on Monday, April 11<\/span>th<\/span>. The Pit Spitters will provide clues each day on their social media channels as to where the baseballs are \u201chiding.\u201d Prizes include a customized jersey, a ceremonial first pitch and much more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The \u2018Hop N\u2019 Hunt\u2019 will culminate on Saturday, April 16<\/span>th<\/span> at 10:00am when the Pit Spitters join in the Blair Township Easter Egg Hunt held at the Blair Township Offices.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s a fun way to kick off an exciting, new season,\u201d explains Mickey Graham, the team\u2019s General Manager. \u201cI\u2019m especially glad we can partner with local schools and businesses to make it a community wide event.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Students from Blair Elementary, Homeschool Enrichment Network and Bridgeway are helping by coloring and decorating the \u201cEaster baseballs\u201d for the event.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The Pit Spitters begin their defense of the Northwoods League championship on Monday, May 30, in Battle Creek and their home opener is set for Friday, June 3, 2022, at 7:05pm. Season ticket and group packages are on sale now. Tickets for individual games will go on sale Monday, April 25.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Having completed its\u2019 28<\/span><\/i>th<\/span><\/i>\u202fseason, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 270 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (LAD), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2021 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and 2019.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
