On July 31, 2018, the Waterloo Bucks announced the launch of the ‘Step Up To the Plates’ community program. The Bucks are partnering with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in collecting produce and packaged goods from the College Hill Farmers Market, Cedar Falls Farmers Market, and Waterloo Urban Farmers Market.
“As part of the ballclub’s Our Buck community initiative, the Waterloo Bucks are excited to begin the ‘Step Up To the Plates’ program,” said Bucks assistant general manager Ben Knaack. “The partnership with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank has been fantastic through training, communication, and all the efforts to provide families in need with fresh produce from farmers right here in the Cedar Valley.”
Bucks staff have been and will be attending the College Hill Farmers Market in Cedar Falls on July 12th and 26th, and both Cedar Falls Farmers Market and Waterloo Urban Farmers Market on July 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th, and on August 4th and 11th. Keep an eye out for staff and players as they collect food throughout the summer for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
