STEP UP TO THE PLATES
The Waterloo Bucks executed the 2nd year of the ‘Step Up To the Plates’ community initiative in 2019. The Bucks partnered with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in collecting produce and packaged goods from the Cedar Falls Farmers Market and Waterloo Urban Farmers Market.
“As part of the ball club’s Our Bucks community initiative, the Waterloo Bucks are excited to continue the ‘Step Up To the Plates’ program,” said 2019 Bucks community relations manager Matthew McGough. “We were honored to be a part of such a great program last year to provide families in need with fresh produce from farmers right here in the Cedar Valley. We were excited to continue the program in 2019 in partnership with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.”
Bucks staff and players attended over a dozen farmers markets in the summer of 2019 collecting 1,701 pounds of fresh produce for families in need in the Cedar Valley.
Keep an eye out for staff and players next summer as they collect food for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank from Waterloo and Cedar Falls farmers markets. For more information about the ‘Step Up To the Plates’ program contact Lakin Goodman at (319) 232-0500 x4 or lakin@waterloobucks.com.
