Each member of the Waterloo Bucks (19-9) lineup recorded at least one hit while Max Jung-Goldberg (3-for-5, 2 R, 2 HR, 7 RBI) had a monster seven-RBI performance in a 15-4 drubbing of the Bismarck Larks (18-12) on Tuesday evening. With La Crosse losing to Mankato in their first game of the evening, the Bucks clinched the 2021 Great Plains East First Half Championship. Liam Critchett (3-for-4, BB, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI), Cameron Repetti (3-for-5) and Jung-Goldberg enjoyed three-hit evenings while three more Bucks chipped in a pair of knocks to secure the win.<\/p>\n
Blake Corsentino earned his second win of the summer with 6.0 innings of three-hit, three-walk baseball while allowing just three runs and striking out three. Camren Landry worked a pair of frames in relief, allowing just one run on a pair of hits and a walk to go with two punchouts while Decker Stedman closed things out with a scoreless ninth, working around a hit and a walk.<\/p>\n
Chris Seng (1-for-5, BB, 2 R, RBI) opened Waterloo’s scoring in the first as he drew a walk and moved to second on a Jalen Smith (1-for-3, BB, HBP, 2 R) single. Garrett McGowan (2-for-5, 2 R, RBI) flew out to deep left-center, advancing Seng to third, then Josh Kasevich (2-for-3, 2 R, 2B, 4 RBI, SF) plated him with a sacrifice fly to right.<\/p>\n
Smith was struck by a pitch with one away in the third followed by a McGowan single through the right side. Two batters later, Jung-Goldberg demolished a three-run home run over the video board in right-center, handing Waterloo a 4-0 lead.<\/p>\n
Emi Gonzalez (1-for-4, BB, R) led off the fourth with a single off the center field wall then Mike Campagna (2-for-5, 2 R, 2B) drilled a double to left, advancing him to third. Critchett stroked a two-run double into the left-center alley, joined on base by Smith two batters later after the latter drew a walk. Bismarck brought on a reliever, rudely welcomed to the game with four straight Bucks base hits: a McGowan RBI single, a Kasevich run-scoring knock, a Jung-Goldberg two-run single laced into left and a Repetti single.<\/p>\n
Leading 10-3 entering the home half of the fifth, Critchett and Seng singled to begin the inning. Two outs later Kasevich clobbered a two-run double to deep center, followed by Jung-Goldberg’s second homer of the game belted out to left-center.<\/p>\n
The Bucks added one more in the sixth as Campagna singled and later scored on a Seng groundout.<\/p>\n
