Waterloo, Iowa \u2013 In conjunction with the Northwoods League Foundation, the Waterloo Bucks are proud to announce the City of Dike has been named the recipient of this year\u2019s Share the Glove Equipment Grant Program. All 22 Northwoods League communities will receive a grant from the Foundation.<\/p>\n

The Bucks received many applicants in its fifth year of this grant and are proud to have an impact in providing this equipment to an organization in the area. The Bucks will make an on-field presentation to representatives of the City of Dike before a Bucks game in the upcoming 2022 season.<\/p>\n

The Northwoods League Foundation is donating over $40,000 in youth Rawlings baseball and softball equipment this spring throughout the footprint of the league. Each grant will include one set of catcher\u2019s gear, ten fielding gloves, eight batting helmets, six bats, and one bucket of practice balls.\u00a0 Eleven baseball grants and eleven softball grants are being awarded in total throughout the NWL\u2019s footprint.\u00a0 The Share the Glove<\/a> initiative was developed to encourage participation in youth baseball and softball activities in NWL communities. Northwoods League affiliates promoted the grant and collected applications from youth organizations in their local markets this winter and spring.<\/p>\n

The Northwoods League Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves as a vehicle to transform a shared passion for baseball into positive change and support for communities. The mission of the Northwoods League Foundation is to utilize the game of baseball to enrich the quality of life for children and families with an enduring and caring focus on Northwoods League communities.<\/p>\n

The 2021 Great Plains East Champion Bucks open their 2022 season at home on Monday, May 30 versus the St. Cloud Rox.\u00a0 Cost Cutters Field at Riverfront Stadium, home of the Bucks, welcomed a new state of the art video board in 2016 thanks to a matching grant from the Black Hawk County Gaming Association.\u00a0 Team ownership has invested nearly $400,000 in stadium improvements since the end of the 2014 season including group outing areas, painted bleachers, public Wi-Fi, sound system, kids zone inflatables, wiffle ball field, and concessions equipment.\u00a0 Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com<\/a> or utilizing the Northwoods League Mobile App.<\/p>\n

The Waterloo Bucks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Having completed its\u2019 28th<\/sup> season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, over 280 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (NYM), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS).
