Waterloo, IA \u2013 Former Waterloo Bucks pitcher Cody Sedlock was called up to the big leagues Sunday by the Baltimore Orioles.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Sedlock \"\"<\/a>joins Texas Rangers pitcher Dane Dunning and Oakland A\u2019s pitcher A.J. Puk as former Bucks who are active Major Leaguers.\u00a0 After appearing in Sunday\u2019s game versus the Boston Red Sox, Sedlock became the 21st<\/sup> former Buck to make his MLB debut.<\/p>\n

A product of the University of Illinois, Sedlock played with the Bucks in 2014, finishing with the ninth best ERA in the NWL with a 3.27 mark.\u00a0 In addition, the Sherrard, Illinois native tied for the league lead in starts with 13 and finished the year with a 5-3 record.\u00a0 Sedlock struck out 53 while walking just 29.\u00a0 Baltimore selected Sedlock with their first-round pick (27th<\/sup> overall) in the 2016 MLB Draft.<\/p>\n

Prior to his call-up to the Orioles, Sedlock was in AAA Norfolk where he had appeared in eight games for the Tides. He was 2-1 with a 5.83 ERA and had 35 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. In his Major League debut against Boston, he entered the game in relief in the 5th<\/sup> inning and pitched three innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players.
