This week we are catching up with former Waterloo Bucks Pitcher, Guido Fonseca. The Cleveland Indians drafted the West Covina, California native in the 12th round of the 2008 amateur entry draft. Since being drafted, Fonseca has started working his way up the Indians farm league system.<\/o:p><\/font><\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

 <\/o:p><\/font><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Fonseca played two years at the University of Northern Iowa. In 2007, Fonseca pitched in 66 innings and had a 4.09 ERA and 5 wins. In 2008, Fonseca only got better pitching in 88 innings and had a 4.50 ERA with 9 wins.

After being drafted 381st<\/sup>  <\/span><\/sup>overall in ’08, Fonseca made his Major league debut with the Indian’s Short-Season New York-Penn League, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Fonseca went 0-1 with a 7.27 ERA in three starts, striking out seven and walking two in 8 2\/3 innings. Fonseca was sent down to the Indians Rookie Gulf Coast League Indians where he went 1-0 with one save in eight appearances, all in relief. He posted a 3.00 ERA, fanning 11 and walking four in 12 innings, limiting opposing hitters to a .204 average. In 2009, Fonseca was sent back up to the Scrappers where he pitched in 33 innings and had a 4.32 ERA with 1-2 record.<\/font><\/p>\n
