Tonight’s contest between the Waterloo Bucks and the Madison Mallards ended in a 20-6 defeat.  Both teams battled at the plate, pounding out the hits, but the Mallards pulled ahead shaking the Bucks and ultimately taking the game.<\/p>\n

Starting pitcher Zach Cooper took control of the mound tonight pitching six innings and striking out eleven of the eighteen outs.  Late in the top of the fourth Cooper faced Steve Bruno who pounded out his first homerun of the season, brining in four runs and giving the Mallards the lead.  Relief pitcher Mitch Mormann caught the after effects of Bruno’s grandslam as he met the Mallards powerhouse bats and gave up five runs off of two hits and three walks.  Utility player Phil Keppler made a brief appearance on the mound wrapping up the seventh inning keeping the Mallards to only one additional run.  Matt Grabowski closed tonights game giving up eight runs off of eight hits and one walk.  Mallards Kyle Stewart was credited with the win, Cooper took the loss.<\/p>\n

The Bucks totaled twelve hits in nine innings but were restricted to only six runs.  Big bats came from CF Landon Anderson (pictured) who went three-for-four tonight with one double and a single RBI.  1B Jake Astor and SS Chase Jaramillo both pounded out doubles and Jaramillo recorded three RBIs.  Other Bucks that recorded hits were LF Pat Stover, 2B Ellis Lowe and C Jonathan Crist.  In the bottom of the ninth, RF Nick Anderson rallied on two hitting his second homerun of the season.  L. Anderson and 3B Zach McCool both had stolen bases.  Ten runners were left on base.<\/p>\n

July 18 closes up the three game homestay for the Bucks against the Madison Mallards.  Tickets are available from Americinn, bring in six miller lite bottle caps and receive a complimentary ticket and beer courtesy of Miller Lite.  Gates will open at 2 P.M., first pitch is scheduled for 3:05 P.M.  <\/p>\n
