This week we are catching <\/span>up with former Waterloo Bucks infielder Ryan Goins.  <\/span>The Toronto Blue Jays drafted the Round Rock, Texas native in the fourth round of the 2009 MLB Draft. In his first year as a pro, Goins played for three teams in the Blue Jays organization.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goins\\\"\\\" started his professional career playing for the Blue Jays’ Gulf Coast League team, seeing action in just three games before being moved up to the New York-Penn League to play for the Auburn Doubledays.  <\/span>At Auburn, Goins played in 24 games, hitting .297 with eight RBI and a .349 on-base percentage.  <\/span>Before the end of the season, Goins was again advanced in Toronto’s organization, this time to the Advanced A Lansing Lugnuts of the Midwest League.  <\/span>In 19 games with Lansing, Goins hit .198 with four doubles, nine RBI, and 16 hits.<\/span>  In his first year as a pro, Goins played in 46 games, finishing with a .246 average, 17 RBI, and a .304 slugging percentage.  <\/span>Goins drove in six runs in his last seven games and finished with a .310 on-base percentage versus left-handed pitchers while with the Lugnuts.<\/span><\/p>\n

This past season season Goins started the season in Lansing, during his time there he played in 77 games.  During his time there he collected a batting average of .308 while hitting 2 doubles, 3 home runs and driving in 35 runs.  After Lansing Goins was called up to Dunedin, during his time there he played in a total of 47 games.  In that time he collected an average of .205 while hitting 9 doubles and driving in 18 RBIs.<\/p>\n

Goins was a member of the Waterloo Bucks in 2008 where he hit .318 with 12 doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI, and finished with a .439 slugging percentage in 38 games.  <\/span>His batting average and doubles mark led the team.

 Ryan is starting the 2011 season with the Dunedin Blue Jays and hopes to rise through the minor league system.<\/p>\n
