Battle Creek, MI – After the severe storms that raged through Battle Creek, the Waterloo Bucks (0-1) were welcomed to their season opener at C.O. Brown Stadium under, thankfully, clear skies. However, the Waterloo Bucks could not manage to secure a win against the Bombers. They were defeated in the game 7-4 by the Bombers.<\/p>\n

Andrew Ewing, of the University of Iowa, proved himself to be a powerful offensive player earning 2 out of 4 runs for the Bucks. This is just what manager, Jason Nell, was hoping for. "If it just so happens that you get a guy from a big-time school, you hope he puts up big-time numbers," said Nell. The Bucks continued to put up runs throughout the game but could not overtake the Bombers lead. <\/p>\n

Jordan Goldschmidt (0-1) opened the game pitching for the Waterloo Bucks and gave up seven runs and two walks. The bottom of the third was the turning point in the game. The Bombers scored all of their seven runs in this inning and the Bucks were unable to overtake them. He was relieved by Ben Cotrell (Loras College) who gave up no runs and only one walk before in turn being relieved by Kyle Kramp (Bultler). Kramp gave up three walks but no runs. <\/p>\n

\nThe Bucks take on Battle Creek Thursday as game two of a three game series. Their home opener will take place on June 4 at the rennovated RIverfront Stadium vs. the Eau Claire Express. The game begins at 6:35 PM with gates opening at 5:00 PM. After a defeat on the road, the Bucks will look to get the season on track by defeating the Express at home. <\/p>\n
